  • About ABF

With more than 30 years of experience, the Brazilian Association of Franchising (ABF) is a non-profit entity created with the mission of disseminating, defending and promoting the technical and institutional development of the business model baptized as franchising. The entity, which currently has more than 1,400 members, brings together all parties involved in the franchise system: franchisors, franchisees, consultants and service providers that guarantee and disseminate the practice of good franchising in Brazil.

ABF also works closely with the Brazilian Government to strengthen and conduct a national policy for the sector – a major generator of jobs, income distribution and foreign exchange reserves to the country. Brazil is one of the few countries with a specific franchising law, which for more than 17 years governs the relationship between franchisees and franchisors, bringing transparency rules to the business offering.

Currently ABF is part of the World Franchise Council (WFC) and the Ibero-American Federation of Franchises (FIAF), and is also a member of the International Franchising Association (IFA) and the Forum for International Retail Association Executives (FIRAE).

Brazilian Franchising has grown. In 2019 there was an improvement in the confidence levels, a resumption of expansion, a 6.9% increase in revenues, a 5.1% increase in units and an increase of 4.8% in job creation in the franchising sector. Projections for 2020 are even better, and an increase in the number of units, revenue and creation of jobs is expected. In terms of internationalization, the presence of Brazilian brands abroad only tends to grow.
