Brazilian chain Habib’s announces QR code payment method

Having its customers’ safety in mind, Habib’s has announced a new payment method: QR code. This modality consists of using the cell phone to read the code and pay for the products using a digital wallet, and it also promotes social distancing, which is crucial in times of pandemic.

The group is known for its Arab fast-food chain Habib’s and also owns Italian food chain Ragazzo and barbecue restaurant Tendall Grill. The franchise is a member of Franchising Brasil — a sector project for the internationalization of Brazilian franchise brands carried out by means of a partnership between the Brazilian Association of Franchising (ABF) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil).

Today, the group has over 500 units across 18 Brazilian states, and together the brands have 18 thousand employees. In total, 301 units of Habib’s, 285 of Ragazzo and 6 of Tendall will accept the new payment method.

The novelty also offers exclusive advantages to customers paying via QR code, such as a discount of up to 80% in purchases totaling at least BRL 9.90, and it’s valid for the three brands belonging to the group.

Danilo Monteiro, corporate communications manager, states that the action emphasizes the company’s mission of offering high-quality products at low prices, as well as safe payment methods. “It’s a more convenient and comfortable payment process for those buying things on the counter, by phone and via application, whether with or without the help of an assistant. The quarantine period accelerated the automation of processes and the change of behaviors on the part of customers, what makes this new online and contactless payment method even more important”, he says.
