Home and construction: meet two brands in the fastest growing franchise sector in Brazil

The home and construction sector has grown the most in the Brazilian franchise market since 2020. In contrast to other markets, the field was boosted by the May 2020 federal decree that established construction as an essential service during the pandemic. According to data from ABF (Brazilian Franchising Association), the revenue of the segment saw an increase of 19.6% from April 2020 to March 2021, if compared to the previous 12 months. There was also a significant increase in the number of units, 36.5% in the first quarter of this year, when compared to the previous year.

See below the information about two franchises in this segment that are participating in Franchising Brasil – a partnership between ApexBrasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) and ABF (Brazilian Franchising Association):

Casa do Construtor Locação de Equipamentos:

The history of the brand, since its origin, is inspired in the friendship between two university students, the civil engineers Altino Cristofoletti Junior and Expedito Eloel Arena.

The idea started in 1993, with a humble construction materials store in Rio Claro, a city of the state of São Paulo. Three years later, the project was created for the first company in Brazil to specialize in leasing small machinery and equipment for civil construction. In 1998, the brand is registered, and then the first official unit of the network appears. In the same year, the franchise’s pilot store was also opened in Americana, another city of the state of São Paulo. It was only two years later that Casa do Construtor started its franchising activities.

In 2010, the brand was elected the best franchise by Pequenas Empresas & Grandes Negócios magazine. In 2021, the brand was awarded the 2021 International Franchise Certificate, in the Full category. Today, Casa do Construtor has 360 stores throughout Brazil and is growing every year, with plans to reach 1000 stores by 2026. The network also has two units abroad, which operate in the Paraguayan market.

Everything seems to indicate that growth expectations will be met: in 2020 alone, the business recorded an 18% increase in revenue and a 30% increase in customers.
