Brazilian franchise Espetto Carioca invests in its own meat-packing plant

Espetto Carioca, a group holding a vast chain of bar and restaurant franchises, has just opened its own meat-packing plant. The brand is a member of Franchising Brasil — a sector project for the internationalization of Brazilian franchise brands carried out by means of a partnership between the Brazilian Association of Franchising (ABF) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil). Today, the chain is present in at least six Brazilian states and continues expanding.

Carioca Foods is a meat-packing plant with a usable area of 1,500 square foot able to produce 155 tons of meat. The facility is going to serve all the franchise units, as well as other food businesses. Espetto Carioca will also give end consumers the opportunity to buy company’s products in franchise shops and supermarkets.

Carioca Foods is located in the city of São Paulo and an investment of more than BRL 5 million was made in it. With its own meat-packing plant, the chain intends to increase by at least 20% its revenue still in 2020, and by BRL 30 million by 2023. Leandro Souza, CEO of the chain, said the new facility will make the brand’s production process more dynamic. “The meat-packing plant is very important to our business, since now we’ll be able to follow closely each step of production until the end product is served to customers, what will increase even more the quality level of our meat”, stated Leandro. “The entire chain will benefit from it, and our customers will notice the change too”, he completes.

According to the group, the idea of having its own meat-packing plant had been cultivated for some years as part of the expansion plan of Espetto Carioca. The facility complies with strict hygiene standards, as well as with national and international certification requirements, like the Brazilian Federal Inspection Service (SIF), for example. As soon as the plant starts operating, approximately 30 new job positions are expected to be opened in the next months.
