Franchising Brasil holds Roadshow focused on Latin American investors

In December, Franchising Brasil – the internationalization program of the Brazilian Franchising Association (ABF) with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) – organizes Roadshow Latin America, an online event focused on fostering business between franchises Brazilian companies and potential investors on the continent. The initiative has the support of the Colombian Franchise Chamber (ColFranquicias), the Santiago Chamber of Commerce (CCS) and the Brazilian Embassy in Bogotá, and registration is open.

This edition of the action is a union of Roadshow Andino with Roadshow Mexico. The event began on November 17th, with a workshop on the Colombian, Chilean and Peruvian market for Brazilian franchises, and continues in December.

“We noticed that it would be more advantageous for Brazilian businessmen to carry out business rounds and pitchings with investors from more countries, so we joined the second stage of the events, creating an action that encompassed all of Latin America”, explains Bruno Amado, executive manager of Franchising Brasil.

The next stage of the event takes place on December 1st, with a lecture on the Mexican market. In the second stage, scheduled for December 7th and 8th, the registered franchises participate in pitching sessions and meetings with potential Colombian, Chilean, Mexican and Peruvian investors. Bruno says that this stage promises to strengthen ties between the nations present: “Brazilian companies will be introduced and then meetings will take place with potential investors in the Latin American market. A very interesting formula for promoting Brazilian franchising”.

Training workshop

The training workshop for Brazilian franchises, which took place in November, was considered to be a success. The lecture on the Colombian market was given by Marcello Martins, Apex-Brasil Chief Operation Officer in Bogotá. “Colombia has the potential to be Brazil’s biggest trade partner,” commented Marcelo in his lecture. Luis Felipe Jaramillio, the representative of Colfranquicias, also participated and brought the information that Colombia is the 3rd best country in the world for franchises to do business.

Tulio Kafuri, the economic adviser at the Brazilian Embassy in Lima, showed Peru’s encouraging scene. “Since 1993, the Peruvian economy has grown almost 3.5 times, with an average growth rate of 5% per year”, Walter Aguirre, founding partner of Aguirre Advogados e Associados, shared the lessons learned from the pandemic for the local market, such as the importance of online sales and delivery.

Santiago Chamber of Commerce Franchise Committee Chair Marcela Varas also commented on the rates of franchises in the Chilean economy riding the coronavirus wave, “despite an uncertain scenario, franchises have grown in the pandemic”; explained the president.
